I am new to refereeing

The new referee training course is designed to provide candidates with entry level referee skills and information through classroom and field training. Emphasis is on preparing you for refereeing recreational and competitive youth program games. The course is 12 hours, with 8 hours online and 4 hours in the classroom.

  • Participants must be atleast 12 years of age.
  • Referees under the age of 14 will be registered as a Level 9 referee and can only be assigned to recreational games.
  • Complete the USSF written examination with a minimum passing score of 75%.
  • Upon successful completion of the USSF exam, contact KASL admin for scheduling and review the referee resources section
  • Costs are approximately $100 - $125 dollars.

Referee Resources

Your Responsibilities

  • Arrive and sign in 30 minutes prior to your game time.
  • Arrive properly dressed with your shirt tucked in and socks pulled up.
  • Arrive with all of the required equipment.
  • Properly complete all referee reports.
    • Track scores by jersey number.
    • Total scores at the end of the game.
    • Sign all referee reports.
    • For select games, enter the scores in game official.
    • Complete incident reports for any issues or injuries.
    • Complete the Cards issued report.
    • Report any required field maintentance to KASL

  • TT: $10
  • 4K: $10

  • 1st/2nd: $15
  • 3rd/4th: $20
  • 5th/6th: $30 (Center) or $20 (Lines)
  • 7th/8th: $40 (Center) or $30 (Lines)
  • 9th - 12th: $45 (Center) or $35 (Lines)
  • Adult: $45 (Center) or $35 (Lines)
