What programs does KASL offer?

Who is eligible for KASL recreational league programs?
  • All players are welcome. No previous experience is necessary.
  • Starts at 3 years old (player must turn 3 by December 31st of the Fall season or May 31st of the Spring season). These players play in the Tiny Tots division.
  • Goes up to an adult league (over 18)
  • Age and team placement in the system is determined by month and year the player was born (not school grade level). If player is actually in a different grade level, then you would indicate that on the relevant line of the registration form.
How much playing time should I expect for each game?

Players are guaranteed to play 50% of each game as long as they are an active member of the team.

Can a child play up a division?

KASL allows players to play up one age division with parental consent.

Can a child play down in a younger age division?
  • If the player was held back a grade, they are allowed to play in that grade/division.
  • If player wants to play in a division below their birth year/grade year, they are not allowed to do so. The age divisions are set by the governing bodies over KASL and no exceptions are made.
When does the season operate?

A complete season includes Fall and Spring of the following year, but players can sign up for one session only for a reduced fee. Reduced Fee Spring session only

Seasons

  • Fall: games start the beginning of September (usually after Labor Day) and go until the end of October, with the first weekend in November as a potential make-up date.
  • Each team will play at least 8 games.
  • Registration opens in May for the upcoming Fall season and remains open until teams are full.
  • There is a deadline of July 1st each year to register and remain on your current/desired team.
  • Spring: Games restart in April and go until early to mid-June.
  • Each team will play at least 7 games.
  • Registration opens in May for the upcoming Spring season and remains open until teams are full.
  • KASL registers new/old players year-round; however, your son or daughter may be placed on a waiting list until a new team is formed or there is an opening, in the case teams are full.
Why hasn’t my phone call message or email to KASL been returned?
  • Three weeks before/during/after season, there are roughly 200 phone calls per week.
  • The phones are checked daily, and emergencies are handled promptly.
  • All calls and emails are returned in the order they are received.
  • If you have not heard from a KASL representative in three days, feel free to send an email to the administrator for quicker response time.
When are games scheduled?
  • Games are scheduled for weekends. On Saturdays (primary game day), they are scheduled throughout the day (typically 9-4). If there are Sunday games, KASL does not typically start until noon. In the rare case of numerous weekend rainouts, there could be a Sunday morning game or weekday game, as agreed upon by both team coaches.
  • Games are played at Anderson Park (southeast of Tremper High School) off of 87th place and 26th avenue. See field map.
Are there awards?
  1. 5th grade and below there are no scores kept. Each player will receive a participation award at the end of Spring season.
  2. 6th grade and above play for first and second place awards or participation awards at the end of Spring season.
How can a child get on a specific team or play with a friend?
  • Note your request on the online registration form
  • All returning players have the first chance to get back on their existing team if registered by the July 1st cut-off date.
  • For new players, open spots are filled and requests are granted on a first come first serve basis with completed registrations.
  • New player requests may be turned down due to lack of capacity or equalizing team rosters.
What are scrimmage games?

Scrimmages are unscheduled games set up between the coaches. Scrimmages may only be set up between teams in their own age division.
