Steve Domin has served Carthage College as Director of Soccer Operations, the Head Men’s and Women’s Soccer Coach, and Instructor in the Exercise and Sport Science Department at different points over the years. His guidance has made the Red Men and Lady Reds consistent winners. The Naperville, Ill. native continues to bring enthusiasm and a tireless work ethic to the lakeshore campus, helping him earn College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Coach of the Year honors on several occasions. Domin was named CCIW/Joe Bean “Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year” in 1996, 2007 and 2011. Both his 2007 and 2011 teams won CCIW titles, the 2008, 2011 and 2015 teams won CCIW Tournament Titles, and all qualified for the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championships. In Domin’s tenure, the Carthage men’s team has qualified 12 times out of the last 14 years for the CCIW Men’s Soccer Tournament (since inception), including 10 in a row from 2002 to 2013.

Coach Domin holds a combined 348-217-45 overall record. Under his direction, Carthage has produced more than 100 All-CCIW performers, 47 All-State of Wisconsin Collegiate performers, 22 All-Midwest players, two NCAA All-Americans, multiple Conference championships and multiple CCIW Player and Coach of the Year Honors. In 2011 and 2015, Coach Domin was named the State’s Collegiate Coach of the Year. Carthage teams have been ranked in the top 10 by the NSCAA Regional & National Committee on several occasions (1996, 1997, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015), and have competed in the NCAA National Championships. In 2014, Coach Domin and the men’s soccer team eclipsed the 200 win plateau defeating perennial power Wheaton College (the NCAA National Runner-up), and is one of a handful of coaches to have surpassed 300 NCAA wins combined.

He is one of the Directors of Coaching for the local area select club programs, holds an Advanced NSCAA National License and a “USSF” National coaching license, served on the NCAA Men’s & Women’s Championship Selection Committee, and is a full-time teacher in Carthage’s Exercise and Sport Science Department.

Coach Domin is the Managing Director and Developer of the Carthage College Soccer Camps, widely recognized as one of the premier soccer camps in the Midwest in size, shape and scope. The curriculum includes a network of NCAA and NAIA college, accomplished high school and top club coaches which annually attracts nearly 1,000 campers. This vehicle affords Carthage Soccer to have a national reach on and off the field. Carthage annually travels to top soccer destinations across America competing and training with elite teams and programs at the MLS, Division I & II, Academy and Professional levels.  Many of Carthage Soccer Players have been featured on PDL and USL soccer teams.

While coaching the men’s team, Domin coached the Carthage Women’s Soccer Team from 1995 to 2004, compiling a 130-59-9 in 10 years (.680 winning percentage, ranked 35th all-time in the NCAA), winning a CCIW Championship in 2001 and earning conference “co-coach of the year” honors.

Coach Domin is a native of Naperville, Ill., attended Naperville North High School and was named Daily Herald all-state in baseball, and played varsity soccer for legendary Coach Dave Bucher. He graduated from Carthage in 1993, majoring in Exercise and Sport Science and Business Administration, and received his Master’s in Education, and specializing in Guidance & Counseling, also from Carthage in 1995. Domin played for the Naperville Soccer Association and stints with the Chicago Magic Soccer Club before playing and captaining Carthage’s 1991-93 soccer teams.

He also had a four-year playing career for the Carthage Baseball Team. A two-year team captain, he compiled a .332 career batting average as the Red Men’s second baseman and was named to the NCAA Central Region all-tournament team as a junior and senior. He holds a Carthage career record with only 24 strikeouts in over 450 at bats (highlighted in the NCAA as the “toughest to strike out” category), batted .414 in 1992, .404 in 1993 and was part of Carthage’s first College World Series teams. Steve has coached both men’s and women’s soccer, baseball, softball, and as graduate assistant served as a manager and as game support staffer in football, basketball, swimming and track & field, all at Carthage.

Steve and his wife, Stephanie, the Carthage women’s coach for both cross country and track and field, live in Pleasant Prairie, Wis., with their sons Ty and T.J.

“It has always been about the student-athletes,” explains Coach Domin. “They are the ones building, sharing and competing everyday for each other and for our College.  We pride ourselves on a foundation of experiences, successes, and on the futures of players while they are at Carthage and beyond.  As a staff, our goal is to put student-athletes in situations where they can succeed and be challenged, allow them to decision make, and then ultimately try to stay out of their way.  Deeper, we are hyper proud our athletes’ success off the field, in the community, and in the classroom have equaled the product on the field.”
